Palonin kesäkauppa Savonlinnassa on auki heinäkuun loppuun saakka tiistaista sunnuntaihin osoitteessa Puistokatu 3. Lämpimästi tervetuloa!

Paloni Fashion Brunch at Klaus K

 Paloni at Klaus-K brunssi

What a weekend! On Friday night at midnight Paloni was still in a controlled chaos, and we were packing for our fashion show and pop-up at the design hotel Klaus K. 12 hours before showtime someone looking at it through the display window would probably not have guessed that in the middle of it all, having our pizza break with Outi Pyy, we were still going to get it all ready in time and rock big time just 12 hours later to a fully-booked Fashion Brunch audience.

The Paloni Fashion Brunch was by far the most popular of all Klaus K Fashion Brunches – guests were seated in two floors to get everyone in. We also had important VIP guests from Stella Harasek to Teemu Bling and Liisa Jokinen - all Finnish fashion influencers.

The show was – I must say – the most professional and inspiring Paloni has organized so far. Our team of top make-up artists, flower mohawks by Ch. Barck, and our nine models did an amazing job. I was so happy to hear Hertta Päivärinta comment that we succeeded in creating a whole picture and story out of Paloni’s designers’ collections with the show, and it didn’t look like detached parts put together. For that I also have to thank Outi Pyy with whom I already cooperated in making our pop-up in New York reality, and who now did the show styling with me.

Thank you to all of our customers who joined us for the brunch, to our fashion show team, thank you to all the designers who were involved and helped, and thank you Klaus K for this cooperation!

Paloni at Klaus K’s Fashion Brunch

Paloni editorials by Maria Baranova

Paloni’s New York project initiated a new kind of, deeper and more intense cooperation with our designers. I’m curiously waiting where this cooperative energy will still lead, and this time it is creating an event at the Klaus K design hotel that I honestly believe will be something extraordinary.

Klaus K has marvelous three-hour brunches with an appetizer buffet, a warm main course and a dessert buffet. When this is combined with a fashion show, event and pop-up shop organized by Paloni together with our designers, nine models, top make-up artists, a master florist and a DJ, we have the Paloni Fashion Brunch.

So, if this all sounds interesting, welcome to our Fashion Brunch at Klaus K on Saturday, 13.4. from 12pm to 3pm. The price 38€ includes the brunch and all program. Reservations: 020 770 4714 tai sales@klauskhotel.com.

The music of the brunch and our fashion show is played by the DJ / milliner Fiona Timantti.

The fashion show to be seen during the brunch involves:
- Flower mohawks designed and realized by the flower shop Ch. Barck
- Spring-summer novelties from Paloni’s designers
- Make-up artists: Miia MagiaSenay Coco, Iris Ottilia and Kata Niemi

- Models: Stephanie / Fondi, Jasmina / Fondi, Anna Talvi, Satu Pa / Fashion Unit, Elisa / Fashion Unit, Heidi Karjalainen, Janni Nurmi, Amélie, Milla / Modelboom

We love Tampere

Right after the opening party of the Ex Tempore Pop Up Shop at Kluuvi on Saturday evening, I continued to Paloni to prepare for the next day – I packed and inventoried all items for the Designtori joulu event in Tampere, finished after midnight and left home early the next morning to head to the next destination. Seems like sometimes (and lately a bit too often) my working days get over 12 hours long, but once again Tampere made it all worthwhile. There’s just the kind of energy at these Tampere events that is hard to describe. Maybe it’s because of the energy of the organizers (the Design on Tampere organization) or maybe it’s because there’s not too much of such events there yet. Whatever the reason, Tampere seems to like us, and we love it in return.

Ex Tempore!

On Saturday we celebrated the opening of the Ex Tempore Pop Up Shop at Kluuvi shopping center, Helsinki. Ex Tempore brings together the most interesting uprising labels and designers for two weeks, until December 22nd.

The day before opening Ex Tempore I was first working at our concept store and at the same time packing for the pop up. I was a bit worried if I’d make it in time and get our department ready before the last doors of the shopping center were closed at 11pm, but luckily everything went smoothly. Jussi Salminen, the designer of Olav and the creative director of Ex Tempore, had done a great job in organizing everything and getting all the gear we all needed for building our departments.

This is how the place looked like the night before the opening at 10pm

Along with the opening of Ex Tempore, we also presented Paloni’s new designer, the trashionista Outi Pyy. Her shredded shirts are now sold at Paloni’s department at Ex Tempore. Outi also talked at the opening party about the ideology of trashion and her brand new book. And yes, there was also some talk about the evening gown she designed and made from recycled leather jackets for the actress Laura Birn for the presidential reception on our Independence Day.

If you’re around Helsinki during this or next week, I recommend visiting this pop-up. At Paloni’s department we have e.g. Kaino knits, Emmi Malmström Shoes  Mari & Arrow jewellery, Vietto clothing and accessories, Min Goodie pot holders, 2. Elämä jewellery, Tauko dresses, POGOSTICK failure clothes and shopping bags and Ainokainen jewellery. And there’s also a bunch of other interesting labels at Ex Tempore: OlavDesign in a BoxHouse of PoViona BluSIPILÄ and Moiko.

Paloni goes Kluuvi!

This is so exciting! Tomorrow the Ex Tempore Pop Up Shop opens at the shopping center Kluuvi, and Paloni will be there with a bunch of other interesting and upcoming labels and designers.

 Ex Tempore Pop Up Shop

So, for the coming two weeks, this will be the place to find the coolest Christmas gift (for yourself or) for your dear ones. Ex Tempore will be open every day starting from tomorrow, Saturday Dec. 8th until Saturday Dec. 22nd. It’s located on Kluuvi’s second floor.

We also have other very exciting news: we have a new designer whose creations will be for sale at Paloni for the first time at Ex Tempore. She is also known as an international blogger and as an author, and as a pioneer of making and promoting do-it-yourself high-fashion out of recycled materials. I’m sure many of you already guess who I’m talking about. Yes, she is the trashionista Outi Pyy, the blogger from behind OutsaPop Trashion and the author of the brand new book Trashion!  So, among all the other items at Ex Tempore, you’ll find Outi’s shredded shirts by the label OutsaPop Trashion. Starting from next week, you’ll also find them from Paloni’s concept store at Eerikinkatu.

Tomorrow you also have the chance to hear a bit more about trashion and to meet Outi in person. She will be at Ex Tempore giving a presentation about the backgrounds and ideology of her book at 4pm (free entry!) after which you’ll have the chance to buy a signed copy of her book (35€). The book is amazing, and I’ve wrote about it before, here.

Hope to see you at Ex Tempore – if not tomorrow, then during the coming weeks!

Regards from I love me / Muotimessut

Regards from I love me - Muotimessut

Sometimes when learning things through experience and feeling like having to learn so much all the time, I wish I had some experience from the fashion industry before opening Paloni. But then, I also think it’s my biggest asset that I don’t have it. It has freed me from doing things like everyone else.

But there is one huge endless learning process that’s universally the same, whatever the industry sector in question: networking. An entrepreneur doesn’t need to know everything, but one should know the people who know. When this network of networked people starts to grow, things become easier, and in many cases also much funnier. There’s so nice and interesting people in and around the design and fashion scenes that I’ve enjoyed getting to know!

Outi Pyy

When we participated the “I love me” event (Muotimessut) a week ago, our stand was a part of the Design District Helsinki joint stand. This network is one of the valuable networking and cooperation channels for the best design stores in Helsinki. We also cooperated with the author Outi Pyy whose book Trashion! was for sale at our stand, and Outi was there to sign the copies. A big thank you both to Aino Vepsäläinen from Design District Helsinki and for Outi Pyy for making our participation at the event possible and special!

Designtori Tampere

Paloni will take part in the Designtori sales event in Tampere city on Sunday, September 2nd. It’s an outside event, with lots of interesting Finnish brands, designers and shops selling their latest designs.

Some practical notes to people who’d like to visit, based on the experience from our past events organized by Design on Tampere:

Bring cash. We will take our card payment terminal with us, but I’m guessing that most sellers will only accept cash.

Be on time. The best stuff is sold first, and the stocks of the sellers are limited. Usually there’s a queue to these events.

In case of pouring rain and lightning, stay at home. The event will be cancelled if the weather is unbearable. But let’s hope it’s not!

Desingtori Tampere

I’m planning to take a versatile array of our designers’ items  to this event – something Finnish, something from abroad, jewelry and small gift items, but also clothing. At least we will bring Kiss kiss art tights and leggings, Mari & Arrow jewelry, PaaPii Design toys and DIY kits, Beloved tea spoon keyrings, SIPILÄ clothing and 2. Elämä jewelry and accessories. Hope to see you there!

The event is also on Facebook.

The Graffiti Crocheting Picnic

Let’s crochet a graffiti together at Ruttopuisto while enjoying a nice park picnic on the Restaurant Day!

Bring your friend (and your take-away food from one of the pop-up restaurants if you like) and sit down with us for a brief or a longer moment to chat and crochet. We are crocheting a huge chain that we’ll use to decorate two “Trees of Dreams” in Ruttopuisto for the Knit ‘n’ Tag event.

Ketjun virkkaus

The trees will tell stories about dreams that people have regarding the new Keskustakirjasto (City Library), while also standing as witnesses of the empowering and connecting power of handicrafts.

Tens of people between the ages of 4 to 82 years old have already taken part in crocheting the chain. We’ve organized workshops at the Pavilion on two weekends during the spring / summer, where people of different nationalities, backgrounds and ages have taken part in the project, some so taken away by it that they’ve decided to continue the project at home, and I’ve got the most colorful crochet chain deliveries to Paloni from these people.

The idea and realization of the crochet project is done in cooperation by Paloni, Molla Mills and Keskustakirjasto 2017.

Be a link on the chain – crocheting one link takes about 15 minutes. No prior crocheting experience required. Yarn and hooks provided by Novita.PS. IF IT RAINS, WE’LL OCCUPY THE FLOOR OF PALONI FOR OUR PICNIC, address Eerikinkatu 7, Helsinki.
