Paloni will turn six months next week – it’s time to celebrate! And what would be a better way to celebrate than taking a while from the Christmas preparation hassle and getting inspired by fresh indie music?

You and your friends are warmly welcome to December’s Paloni Indie Music Night with the singer-songwriter Ville Laaksonen. Feel free to just pop by, or come and listen to the whole thing.

See you at Designtori JOULU, Tampere!

Paloni at Designtori JOULU -tapahtuma Pakkahuoneella sunnuntaina 4.12.2011 klo 11-18!
If you’re in or around Tampere on Sunday December 4th, this event will surely be worth visiting! Designers and design shops from around Finland will gather to Pakkahuone so that you could shop the best, the most ecological, beautiful and interesting Christmas gifts to your dear ones. Paloni will be there representing our designers from around the world. We promise to bring along a versatile product range – something for her, for him and also for the little ones.

Paloni at the Finnish Handicraft (Suomen Kädentaidot)

The Finnish Handicraft (Suomen Kädentaidot) in Tampere is Finland’s biggest annual event of handicrafts and handmade design. This year the event had 581 exhibitors and a record of 36 906 visitors.

We wanted our stand to tell about the creativity of our designers, so we put quite a lot of effort into designing, transporting and building it – but I think the effort was worthwhile. Also our transportable fitting room (made from a hula hoop and old sheets, hanging from the ceiling) was in busy use again – maybe we didn’t even realize what a great idea it was when we made it for the Design Market in Helsinki in September.

The Finnish Handicrafts is an event for handmade design from Finland only, so we took with us the products of our now already 26 Finnish designers, including the whole collection of Finland’s Project Runway winner Linda Sipilä. In addition to Linda’s beautiful clothes, also many other of our designers’ items were very popular at the fair, including 2. Elämä jewellery made from recycled bicycle inner tubes by Yuan Long & Jaime De Vizcaya in Helsinki, joyful PaaPii Design toys by Anniina Isokangas from Alaveteli, Kiss Kiss art stockings by Maiju Ahlgrén from Helsinki, colorful ceramic plates by Sarita Koivukoski from Espoo and ecological Vietto clothes by Minna Kaartinen from Helsinki.

The Finnish Handicraft is a huge event, and once we decided to attend, we wanted to do it properly. My whole family deserves a big thank you for the hours and hours of help and work: my father and husband for transporting and building the stand, my mother and my brother’s girlfriend for helping in selling, my husband’s parents for helping in babysitting and for offering accommodation and my daughter for keeping our spirits up regardless of the long days we all worked. Thank you also to the organizers of the event, and to all who visited our stand! Hope to see you all again very soon – and we promise to come to the Finnish Handicrafts again next year!

Ville Laaksonen at Paloni

Our first ever free-entry music gig Paloni Indie Night on the 1st of November with Rhinestone Lives was a great event with a warm atmosphere, so we have decided to make these indie gigs a monthly treat.

December’s Paloni Indie Night presents Ville Laaksonen, a versatile Finnish musician (singer – songwriter – singing teacher – arranger). Ville’s strong interpretation combined with his amazing voice are at their best on his own songs, with chords from the keyboard and some electro effects to add the needed spice to the mix. The sometimes misty and light, sometimes heavy and robust ambiance of Ville’s music will lead us to the incipient winter and approaching Christmas season. Free entry.

Paloni Indie Nights present: Ville Laaksonen
Time: Thursday December 8th from 7pm to 9pm
Place: Paloni, Eerikinkatu 7, Helsinki
Free entry
